Deborah Pead

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

B. Soc. Sc. Univ. of Natal, S.A.

Deborah began her PR career in South Africa and started her own consultancy in 1987.  When she immigrated to New Zealand in 1996, she brought her extensive retail and brand PR experience with her. Immersing herself in the media scene, she immediately began developing important contacts and client networks as general manager of 141 New Zealand’s PR division.

She left in 2001 to establish Pead PR and focus on consumer-focused brand building. Starting with a staff of one and her home dining table as her desk, the business quickly went from strength to strength.

Deborah is now one of New Zealand’s most respected and influential PR practitioners, with incredible networks, a talented team and a highly successful business.

Steffen Rusten

Head of Digital

Steffen is a multi-talented business professional with a diverse background. After graduating from Auckland University with a Marketing and Economics degree, Steffen spent 5 years with GE Capital. Here, he held roles Communications Analyst, and Credit Analyst, before taking his dedication to data-backed decision making to the marketing world.

This decision has resulted in a journey that’s taken him from established corporates to scrappy startups. He developed new digital and social marketing techniques at the New Zealand Racing Board, taking them into new user experiences that returned revenue well above targets. Then, Uber came knocking and Steffen took a step into the unknown to launch the company’s Wellington operations, taking them from 0 drivers and 0 riders, to a point where they reached more than 10,000 trips per month.

After time spent at various startups across South East Asia, Steffen joined the Pead PR team in June to add another dimension to their digital and social offerings. He never forgets his foundations in a data driven world, and we suspect he has “In God we trust. All others, bring data” tattooed on his chest.
