Vodafone Music Awards Social Media Team

The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards has grown from a small industry ceremony to the biggest red carpet event in New Zealand. The who’s who of Kiwi celebrities flock to the Vector Arena each year to celebrate Kiwi music.

Pead has been working with Recorded Music to promote the event for the past decade but in recent years, Pead has executed an integrated campaign including media relations and social media.

In 2016 Pead was briefed to ensure the #VNZMAs took over each social media platform and giving followers exclusive backstage content and a closer look at our favourite music stars.

Pead launched the official VNZMA Snapchat account and to secure some initial followers, Pead sponsored posts on the popular Music Awards Facebook and Instagram pages with the official VNZMA Ghost Code. Next, Pead enlisted top finalist Kings to do a Snapchat takeover during his visit to Fiji – he posted some awesome content and drew in a bunch of his fans to follow the account.

Pead used the Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to give followers VNZMA ticket giveaways and shots of the artists as they did pre-event media interviews.  

On the night, the Pead social team was covering all areas of the arena, capturing content for all social channels. Pead had play-by-play live updates on Twitter, the top photos being shared on Instagram and the top moments being featured on Facebook. Of course, Snapchat was the most fun with piece-to-camera interactions with New Zealand’s biggest music stars throughout the night.
